The maths behind the recipe
Container footprint × depth gives the bed volume (capped at the container size). The spawn ratio splits that volume into grain spawn and substrate; coir expands about 7× per brick; the ratio also sets colonisation speed (1 : 2 fastest, 1 : 10 cheapest). Yield = dry substrate mass × the species' biological efficiency.
