Flush

/flʌʃ/ noun growing

A wave of mushrooms that fruit at the same time from one block or tub. Most kits give 2–4 flushes, each smaller than the last.

In practice

After harvest, the mycelium needs 7–14 days to recover before the next flush. Soaking the block for a few hours ("dunking") restores the water the first flush used up — that's usually what decides whether you get a second flush at all.
