Common Interactions

HIGH RISK

Lithium (Mood Stabilizer)

Effect: Can cause seizures and heart problems. Even low doses of psychedelics combined with Lithium can be fatal or cause a fugue state.

Recommendation: strictly AVOID.

HIGH RISK

Tramadol (Painkiller)

Effect: Lowers seizure threshold. Combined with psychedelics, it significantly increases the risk of seizures and Serotonin Syndrome.

Recommendation: strictly AVOID.

MEDIUM RISK / BLUNTING

SSRIs (Prozac, Zoloft, Lexapro)

Effect: SSRIs downregulate serotonin receptors. This often "blunts" or completely nullifies the effects of mushrooms.

Recommendation: Not physically dangerous (usually), but often leads to a disappointing experience. Do not stop meds without doctor supervision.

LOW RISK

Benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium)

Effect: "Trip Killers." They reduce anxiety and the intensity of the trip.

Recommendation: Safe to use to end a bad trip, but will reduce the psychedelic effects.
