🧘 Grounding Techniques
1. Box Breathing
- Breathe in slowly for 4 counts
- Hold breath for 4 counts
- Breathe out slowly for 4 counts
- Hold empty for 4 counts
- Repeat 5-10 times
Why it works: Activates parasympathetic nervous system, reduces anxiety.
2. 5-4-3-2-1 Senses
- Name 5 things you can see
- Name 4 things you can touch
- Name 3 things you can hear
- Name 2 things you can smell
- Name 1 thing you can taste
Why it works: Brings awareness back to present moment and physical reality.
3. Physical Grounding
- Plant feet firmly on ground
- Feel the floor beneath you
- Press palms together hard
- Hold a cold object (ice, cold water)
- Splash cold water on face
Why it works: Strong physical sensations anchor awareness in body.
4. Change Environment
- Move to different room
- Go outside if safe
- Turn on lights if dark
- Change music or turn off
- Adjust temperature
Why it works: Breaking patterns can shift mental state.
5. Reassurance Mantras
- "This is temporary"
- "I am safe"
- "This will pass"
- "I can handle this"
- Repeat slowly and calmly
Why it works: Verbal reassurance helps rational mind stay present.
6. Physical Comfort
- Wrap in soft blanket
- Lie down in comfortable position
- Have someone hold your hand
- Drink water slowly
- Gentle massage or touch
Why it works: Physical comfort signals safety to nervous system.
💊 What to Tell Healthcare Providers
If you need medical help, be honest about what was taken. Doctors cannot legally report you, and accurate information saves lives.
Information to Provide:
- Substance: "Psilocybin mushrooms" (be specific)
- Amount: Approximate dose in grams
- Time: When they were consumed
- Other substances: Anything else taken in past 24 hours
- Medications: Any prescribed medications currently taking
- Symptoms: What symptoms are concerning
- Medical history: Relevant conditions (heart, mental health, etc.)
⚠️ Dangerous Drug Interactions
DO NOT mix psilocybin with:
• MAOIs (Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors)
• SSRIs/SNRIs (reduce effects, possible serotonin syndrome)
• Lithium (risk of seizures)
• Tramadol (risk of serotonin syndrome)
• St. John's Wort
• Large amounts of alcohol

After a difficult experience, proper integration is crucial for healing:
Immediate (First 24-48 Hours):
- Rest and sleep as much as needed
- Stay hydrated and eat nourishing food
- Avoid making major decisions
- Journal about the experience
- Talk to trusted friends or support line
- Be gentle with yourself - no self-judgment
Short-term (First Week):
- Maintain regular sleep schedule
- Gentle exercise (walking, yoga)
- Spend time in nature
- Connect with supportive people
- Avoid other substances
- Consider talking to integration therapist
Long-term (Ongoing):
- Work with therapist experienced in psychedelics
- Join integration group or community
- Process trauma if it surfaced
