Interactive Dosage Calculator

Select the mushroom species or potency tier

About This Calculator

The dosage calculator helps users estimate psilocybin mushroom doses based on species potency, dried vs fresh weight, body weight ranges, sensitivity, and intended experience (microdose, light, moderate, strong). It reinforces harm reduction by starting low, adjusting gradually, and considering set, setting, and health status.

Key Inputs

  • Species / Potency tier: low, medium (e.g., cubensis), high (e.g., cyanescens), very high (e.g., azurescens)
  • Form: dried vs fresh; automatic 10:1 conversion with manual override
  • Body weight band: under 60kg, 60-80kg, 80-100kg, 100kg+
  • Sensitivity: low, typical, high; optional prior psychedelic experience flag
  • Experience goal: microdose, light, moderate, strong, heroic (expert-only)

Presets and Ranges

Each goal maps to base dried-dose ranges for medium potency species, then applies potency multipliers and sensitivity offsets. Example (medium potency): microdose 0.1-0.5g, light 0.5-1.5g, moderate 1.5-3.5g, strong 3.5-5g, heroic 5g+ (not recommended without clinical-grade support). High/very-high potency tiers apply 0.6-0.4x multipliers respectively.

Safety Rules

  • Never dose if contraindicated (personal/family psychosis, serious cardiac issues, MAOIs/SSRIs without medical oversight).
  • Require sitter for 2g+ if inexperienced; mandatory for 3.5g+.
  • Warn about set/setting, fasting state, hydration, and emergency plan.
  • Enforce upper caps per potency tier and flag risky combinations.

Workflow

  1. User selects species tier, form, weight band, sensitivity, goal.
  2. Calculator derives suggested range and midpoint.
  3. Displays equivalent fresh weight and capsule counts (optional field for capsule mg).
  4. Shows safety notices, preparation tips, and integration reminders.

Data and Defaults

Potency multipliers derive from literature ranges: medium (cubensis baseline 1.0), high (cyanescens/semilanceata 0.6-0.7 of cubensis weight), very high (azurescens 0.4-0.5). Fresh-to-dry defaults at 10:1 with note on variability. Body-weight adjustments are gentle (+/-10-15%). Sensitivity offsets shift ranges by +/-15-25% with clear warnings.

Harm Reduction Messaging

Each result includes a safety banner: “Start low, go slow. Effects vary. Ensure safe set/setting, support, and legal compliance. Not medical advice.” Additional reminders cover interactions, spacing sessions (2-4 weeks for macrodose), and avoiding redosing during peak.

Integration Tips

Encourage journaling, rest, hydration, and light nutrition post-session. Suggest delaying major decisions, scheduling integration conversations, and using grounding practices. Provide links to integration resources and crisis-support information.

Limitations

The calculator offers educational estimates only. Individual variability, batch potency differences, and health factors mean outputs are non-prescriptive. Professional guidance is recommended where available.
