Golden Teacher (GT) Origin: Unknown (1980s)
The Classic. If you ask anyone where to start, they say GT. It produces large, golden-capped fruits. It is very forgiving of mistakes and works well on BRF cakes or Bulk.
B+ (Be Positive) Origin: Florida?
The Tank. Known for being incredibly resilient to contamination and temperature swings. It can grow huge fruits, sometimes reaching 12 inches tall. A perfect beginner strain.
Penis Envy (PE) Origin: Terence McKenna
The Heavyweight. A mutation that looks phallic. It drops very few spores (hard to propagate). It grows slow and is prone to "blobs" (dino eggs) on the first flush. But it is 2-3x stronger than GT.
Mazatapec Origin: Mexico
The Spiritual. A classic Mexican strain. Users often report a very spiritual, visual experience. It tends to keep the veils closed longer than others.
Albino A+ (AA+) Origin: Lab Selection
The Ghost. A leucistic (near-albino) cubensis with pale white caps and stems. It produces fewer but visually striking fruits. Slower than GT but rewards patience with above-average potency and a highly visual experience profile. Works best on grain spawn with a coco coir casing.
Cambodian Origin: Angkor Wat, Cambodia
The Workhorse. Collected near the Angkor Wat temple complex, Cambodian is celebrated for its exceptional colonisation speed — often the fastest of all cubensis strains. It produces dense, compact flushes of medium-sized mushrooms. An excellent second strain after Golden Teacher because its speed makes contamination far less likely during the colonisation phase.
Transkei (SAT) Origin: South Africa
The African Warrior. The first P. cubensis strain collected in Africa, Transkei produces slender-stemmed mushrooms with small golden-orange caps. It fruits prolifically with large pin sets and is known for producing an energetic, sensory-enhancing experience. Excellent for growers who want yield alongside above-average potency.

Choosing your strain: If you are new, start with Golden Teacher or Cambodian — both are forgiving and reliable. Once you have a successful grow under your belt, experiment with Albino A+ or Transkei. Reserve Penis Envy for when you have mastered contamination prevention and sterile technique, as its slow colonisation speed makes it much more vulnerable to contamination than faster strains.
